Is geared for giving to those in need in Baxter Springs & surrounding areas.
Here, we provide a shopping like experience for clothes and like items , and it is all FREE.
We also give away food, at least 3 meals per person.

Hello all!
My name is Rebecca (Becky) Ernst.
I have been a member of First Assembly since 2010 and have been attending since 2008.
In that time, I have served as a Children's Church leader, Youth Leader, decorating member, WOW ministry, fundraiser committee and now, as the Director of HOPE CHEST Free Store.
In 2018, I went on a mission's trip and felt a calling to help people.
God's calling was strong and precise. I thought I would go into ministry and travel to foreign countries, but God said to help the people in my community.
So, January of 2019, I went before the board with a plan to open the Hope Chest.
We opened our doors June 6th of 2019 and haven't looked back since.
We had over 1,000 people through our doors in 2021.
We offer clothing, shoes, personal hygiene items, small household items, and MUCH MORE.
I have a team of dedicated volunteers that do so much for the Free Store and I couldn't do it without them.
God has opened every door for us to help in our community and surrounding communities as well.
If you are looking for a Church, come and join us.

WE want to be the hands and feet of JESUS.
